Ingredients

  1. 500 gmCarrots
  2. 1/4Beetroot (totally optional)
  3. 150 mlMilk
  4. 100 gmSugar
  5. 150 gmMilk Powder or 250 gm Khoya (Mawa)
  6. 50 mlClarified butter (Desi Ghee)
  7. 4Green cardamom 4 or if using cardamom powder then 1/4 tsp
  8. 3-4 tbspchopped nuts of choice

Cooking Instructions

    Wash, clean & grate the carrots. No need to grate them very finely.

  2. 2

    Add finely grated beetroot for a nice colour. Avoid it if you don’t like or if you have red carrots.

    Add milk, cook covered for 20 minutes.

    After 20 minutes add half of the clarified butter & cook for 2 minutes on medium heat, stirring constantly.

    Gradually add milk powder & ensure that there are no lumps in the halwa.

    Add sugar & mix well. Now it would release some water

  7. 7

    Stir it on medium/high heat till the halwa dries.

  8. 8

    Add the remaining clarified butter & mix well.

  9. 9

    Stir for 2 minutes on medium/high heat.

  10. 10

    Add cardamom powder & mix well.

  11. 11

    Add nuts of your choice & serve warm.
