Herb Naan Bread

I learned how to make my own naan about a year ago. I loved the fresh flavor and ease of making it at home. Also loving Greek food and tzatziki sauce I thought to combine the flavors. Oh so yummy! Serve this as a bread on the side, place in grilled meats and sauces and wrap or enjoy in so many ways. Building flavors starts here.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a large cup, add heated water, yeast and sugar. Mix and let sit for five minutes to proof. If yeast foams after five minutes, it is ready to use.
- 2
In a mixing bowl with dough hook add flour, salt, olive oil, yogurt and proofed yeast.
- 3
Start mixing on low. Add in garlic, dill and lemon zest.
- 4
Knead on low for five minutes. A soft dough ball should have formed. If mixture is too dry, add warm water, 1 tablespoon at a time until soft ball is reached. If too wet, add 1 tablespoon of flour to reach same results.
- 5
Lightly oil a bowl and add dough to bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour in a warm area.
- 6
After 1 hour, punch down dough, cover again and let rest 15 minutes.
- 7
Divide dough into 8 individual balls.
- 8
Roll each ball out into an oval shape about 8"x6".
- 9
Get a grill or large skillet hot over medium heat.
- 10
Using the 2 tablespoons of oil for all the dough pieces, brush one side of naan with oil, grill or cook for several minutes on one side until lightly browned. Brush other side and repeat. Finish all naan in this fashion.
- 11
Serve warm and enjoy.

Naan made only with bread flour tends to be tough, and only with cake flour only is not chewy enough, so I wanted to make a personalized version. This is the absolutely best naan I've ever made! I wanted to make freshly cooked naan at home, so I cam up with this recipe. Please be sure to bake the naan on the at a high temperature. It will be nicely browned, as delicious as authentic Indian naan is. For the all purpose flour, use Lys d'Or or a flour that is specifically meant for French-style bread. If you can't get all purpose flour, use half each of cake and bread flours.I added baking powder to the recipe to improve it. If you don't have any though, you can just omit it. In our home, we occasionally make naan to eat with curry. After making them many times, I settled on this recipe since it has a flavor and texture that my family loves. In Step 6, instead of using a rolling pin, you can just stretch out the dough with your hands. In Step 7, adjust the cooking time depending on your stove and frying pan. I put a thin film of oil in the pan, but you can omit the oil if you prefer. Recipe by caramel-cookie cookpad.japan
