I just wanted a bit different but not overpowering flavor that you cannot taste the meat. It's a subtle flavor and adding a desired wetness to the sandwich or adding a good glaze to the dish. It ends up with a wonderful peppered flavor.

Ingredients

1 quart
  1. 1-1/4 cupyellow prepared mustard
  2. 2/3 cupsugar
  3. 1/4 cupmolasses
  4. 2 teaspoonground mustard powder
  5. 1 teaspoongranulated garlic powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoonground nutmeg
  7. 1 teaspoonground black pepper
  8. 1 teaspoonsalt, more to taste
  9. 1 teaspooncelery salt
  10. 1large onion grated
  11. 3/4 cupwhite wine I used a brand from New Zealand
  12. 1/2 cupapple cider vinegar unfiltered with the mother

Cooking Instructions

    Gather the spices

    Grate the onion.

  3. 3

    Add the mustard and grated onion to a bowl

  4. 4

    Add the spices, molasses and mix.

  5. 5

    To a pot add the wine, vinegar, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil and add the mustard mixture. Simmer 25 minutes stirring occasionally. It will try and stick to the bottom.

    Pour into a container and store in an air tight container it will keep as long as regular mustard.

    Serve with your favorite meats. I hope you enjoy!! This was served on a pulled pork sandwich.
