Cornbread dressing
In the last 5 years I’ve worked on finding the right amount of each and every ingredient to make what we consider the perfect dressing for the holiday season. And I think with the recipe I finally got it! The perfect amount of flavor and moisture because who wants dressing that taste like soggy cornbread? I hope you all enjoy it as much as my family did this past Thanksgiving! Happy cooking!

Lee's Southern Cornbread Dressing
This is a easy southern style cornbread dressing, that I make year around. Add shredded chicken to serve as a main dish. Not to be confused as a stuffing, but could certainly be used for that as well.

My mom has always made this dressing for the holidays with the exception of using shrimp and shrimp broth in it. I wanted to recreate her recipe but ran into issues with locating the ingredients so I implemented it a bit. It still tastes great.

Old Fashion Chicken and Cornbread Dressing
We cleaned the freezers and I found ingredients for a few dishes. Leftovers!“Your dressin’ is only as good as your broth” Anna WilliamsI can’t tell you how much research I’ve done, over 4 decades, from every person I knew, in a sweet little place called western Kentucky, to finally get this the way I feel like it’s supposed to be. Having a Cajun mother♥️, I was raised on my beloved rice dressing not cornbread dressing. But growing up in Kentucky, you bet I became a huge fan of cornbread dressing. Not everyone can make a good one no matter what they do. I’ve been that person a few times lol. It should be Fluffy not concrete. Aromatic and seasoned just right. Crispy in all the right places. But mainly, it’s a texture thing. I think, after all these years, I have nailed it. This is more of an equation, but so easy!I’ve heard everything from using a dozen eggs and boiling broth to 1/2 cup of sage (gag) and cracker crumbs. I’ve heard cream of chicken soup and stove top stuffing. Just NO. The seasoning is very simple because ‘dressin’, as we southerners call it, has a flavor all its own. It smells like Thanksgiving and home. This one is the one for me. I waited a long time before I was confident enough to put this particular recipe out there. No jackin around on this one. I can keep it and share it now, thanks to Cookpad 🧡

Cornbread
This is a recipe from Alex Guarnaschelli that I amend slightly due to my liking. My family would be ashamed of me because this is not exactly southern cornbread, but I like it kind of smooth (less crumbly) and what they don’t know won’t hurt them. The other sinful thing I like, which I would strongly suggest, is putting an obscene amount of buttermilk into this cornbread (more than the recipe calls for) and pulling it out of the oven early so the middle is still raw. It sounds crazy, but try it.

Cornbread
I made this again with 1% milk instead of buttermilk..1,000 times better!

Cornbread salad
This showed up in my family about 20 years ago. Not sure where it originally comes from, but it's awesome! This is how we make it, but as with any recipe, you can make changes to make it your own. Can double dressing and cornbread, to your liking.

Cornbread
My Mom Babe taught me how to make cornbread. We closely followed the Alber's Cornmeal cornbread recipe adding more sugar, melting Crisco shortening instead of using cooking oil, and adjusting the flour and cornmeal measurements. I use more flour and less cormeal instead of 50/50 so the cornbread does not crumble apart as bad. This is a sweeter cornbread with a cake like texture. So good!
