In a mixing bowl add flour, cardamom powder and baking powder.

Best eggs on high speed for 5 minutes or until thick.

Gradually add sugar, beating the mixture till fluffy.

Add vanilla essence and gradually add flour mixture to the beaten batter at low speed.

In a small saucepan heat milk and butter. Keep stirring till butter melts.

Gradually add hot milk mixture to the batter and combine well.

Sieve cocoa powder. Separate 1/4 portion of batter and add cocoa powder in it.

Pour the plain batter in the pan first and rest 1/4 batter on top of it. Gently stir the whole batter with a skewer. This will give the marble effect to the cake.

Tap the pan and place it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes

Check with a skewer if the center comes out clean.

Cool on a wire rack and slice as desired.
