Ingredients

Serves 6 servings
  • 1 cupall-purpose flour (about 125 grams)
  • 1.75 ozbittersweet chocolate (about 50 grams), for melting
  • 3 tablespoonsunsalted butter (about 40 grams)
  • 2 tablespoonsoil
  • Pinchsalt
  • 1large saucepan of water

Steps

  1. 1

    Pour the water, oil, and salt into a saucepan.

    When it comes to a boil, add the flour all at once and quickly mix with a spatula.

    Work the dough until it is soft, smooth, and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

    Remove from heat and carefully knead the dough for a few minutes.

  5. 5

    Fill a piping bag or churro maker with the dough, shape the churros, and fry until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Separately, melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler, whisking well to make a smooth chocolate sauce.

    Dip the churros in the chocolate sauce and let cool.
