Jaeger sauce, or Jäger Soße as it's called in German, is a sauce that pairs wonderfully with pork! This sauce is available as a Knorr powder, but you can't find it in Greece. That's why I found the recipe and now I make it myself! 😉

Ingredients

30 minutes
  1. 8-10fresh mushrooms
  2. 1onion
  3. 1/2 clovegarlic
  4. 1 teaspoontomato paste
  5. 1 tablespoonsugar
  6. 1/2 cupred wine
  7. 1pork bouillon cube
  8. 4 1/4 cupshot water (1 liter)
  9. 2-3 tablespoonsflour
  10. Parsley
  11. 1little oil
  12. 1/2 teaspoonsweet paprika
  13. 1/2 teaspooncumin
  14. 1/2 teaspoonsalt
  15. 1/2 teaspoonpepper

    Prepare your ingredients. Slice the mushrooms, chop the onion and parsley. Heat 4 1/4 cups (1 liter) of water and dissolve the Knorr cube in it.

    Add the mushrooms to the pan and let them reduce in volume a bit. Then remove them and set aside in a bowl.

    In the same pan, add a little oil and sauté the onion with the garlic. Caramelize with the sugar, then add the tomato paste just to dissolve it. Deglaze with the red wine and add the water with the bouillon cube.

    Add the spices and let it simmer. It will take some time to thicken, so don't worry if it seems watery at first; it will thicken 😉.

    When it starts to thicken, add the flour to the bowl with the mushrooms and mix. Add them to the pan. This will help the sauce thicken further. Towards the end, add the parsley.

    The sauce should be thick but not too much. Enjoy! 🎄
