Ingredients

  • 1 cupred masur dal (you can use toor dal also)
  • 2 bunchespalak /spinach washed and chopped
  • 1 tsphaldi /Turmeric powder
  • 1large onion chopped
  • 2green chillies chopped
  • 2tomatoes chopped into semicircles
  • 10-12garlic chopped
  • 2 tspjeera/cumin seeds
  • 3 tbspoil
  • 1 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    In the pressure cooker add the washed dal,chopped paalak, haldi powder,salt and 1tbsp oil.

    Pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles

    Chop the onion, tomatoes, green chillies and garlic

    In a pot add the remaining oil when hot add jeera fry for 2 mins,add garlic, green chillies saute for 2 to 3 mins,add the onion saute till soft, add the tomatoes cook till mashed well last add the red chilli and cook for 3 to 4 mins

    Add the cooked dal to this masala and cook till slightly thickens. Serve with rice, chappati or bread
