Ingredients

  • For Idli
  • 1 cupRice
  • 5-6 tbspurad dal
  • 1/2 sacheteno
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/4 cupwashed green peas
  • 1small grated carrot
  • as neededWater
  • For Chutney
  • 1/4 cupgroundnut powder
  • 1sliced onion
  • to tasteSalt
  • 3 tbspcurd
  • 1 tspjeera/cumin seeds
  • 2-3 tbspcoconut powder
  • For tempering
  • 1 tbspjeera//cumin seeds
  • 2 tbspoil

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and soak rice and urad dal for at least 6-7 hrs or overnight. Grind them together and make a fine paste. Use water if required. Keep it for fermenting for atleast 6-7hrs. As the weather is cold.

    Wash green peas grind them with 2tbsp water(water is optional if required)

    In idli batter. Add green peas paste, eno and salt. Mix them all together. Then add grated carrot and mix them. Keep this batter into refrigerator for at least 10-15min. After15min pour this batter into idli mould and steam them on medium flame for 10min. After 10min remove it let it cool down. Demould it and serve.

    Mean while for chutney: add all the ingredients into blender and blend them. Add water if required. Remove chutney in a bowl. For tempering heat oil in a pan add oil as oil heats add jeera and pour on top of chutney and mix them.

    Garnish hot idli with chutney.
