This pulao made in a pressure cooker is a quick and easy dish. By adding some vegetables to rice, you can make and enjoy it anytime. It's also great for packing in kids' lunchboxes. This dish comes together in just a few minutes.
Steps
- 1
Rinse the rice 2-3 times and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Wash and chop all the vegetables.
- 2
Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle. Add all the whole spices and sauté.
- 3
Add the potato and turmeric powder, and mix well.
- 4
Add all the dry spices and mix. Carefully add the rice and mix with the spices. Sauté for 1 minute.
- 5
Add the green peas and water. (Add just enough water to cover the rice, but do not submerge it too much.) Finally, add the lemon juice, close the pressure cooker lid, and cook for 2 whistles. Then cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
- 6
Once the pressure releases, open the lid. Add cilantro and mix. Your delicious, fluffy pulao is ready. Serve hot.
