Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a bowl mix one cup of water, two cups of corn flour, and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Mix everything together until the mixture has a dough consistency(see second image). The trick is for the dough to not stick on your hands. Thats when you know it’s ready.
- 2
Heat up a frying pan with olive oil. Enough oil to cover the arepa when you put it in.
- 3
Next, make round shape with your hands and deep fry them until they turn a gold color. (I would put the heat at a medium-hight). This should take about 3 minutes on each side.
- 4
Once you strain them, let them sit for a couple minutes. You can now get a knife and cut it through the middle horizontal like a mini pita pocket. you can fill them up with anything you want meat, chicken, ham, cheese etc! In this case I put butter ham and cheese inside!
