Mix all the liquids together (always use the same cup to measure), add the cocoa powder, and remove one cup of the mixture to set aside.

Add the eggs and mix vigorously. Add the flour and baking powder and mix until smooth.

Grease a baking dish and pour in the batter.

Bake at 340°F (170°C) for about 30 minutes. Check doneness with a knife; it should come out clean. Once out of the oven, pour the reserved cup of mixture over the cake.

For the whipped cream: In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone, very cold heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat until you get a thick whipped cream.
