My mum has this hikima iron in her kitchen for ages. When my daughter stumbled upon it recently, we decided to give it a try and voilà it came out perfect; except for the 1st batch that stuck to the iron so we had to peel it off.

Ingredients

45 minutes
6 servings
  • 3 cupsflour
  • 1/2 cupsugar
  • Pinchsalt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Hikima iron
  • Water

Steps

45 minutes
  1. 1

    Mix the flour, salt and sugar untill well combined

  2. 2

    Add water and keep mixing to make a batter. It should be a bit thicker than pancake batter

  3. 3

    Meanwhile, pour your oil in a pan and place the hikima iron in the oil so they become hot together.

  4. 4

    Once hot, remove the iron, gently dip into the batter then return to the oil. Make sure not to completely dip/cover the iron with batter if not it will be difficult for the hikima to come off in the oil. Also be gently shaking the hikima in the oil for it to come off the iron.

  5. 5

    When the hikima comes off the iron, place the iron again in the oil to heat up then dip it in the batter, return it to the oil, shake gently to release it in the oil, leave iron to heat up then return to batter. Fry both sides till golden brown then remove from oil.

    Keep repeating step 5 untill all the batter is exhausted.

    Let it cool a little before serving. It will become crispier even🙂 enjoy with any drink of your choice 😋🍷
