Chupri Roti

Chappati or roti is a tough thing for me. Before getting married, my brother teased me roti gol nahin bunti... amma tried a lot to teach me but no, I didn’t learn. Fortunately, I got married to the person who didn’t like roti alot. So meri bachat.... if we eat then my MIL makes it. My amma and my MIL, they both make roti in different ways. But shadi howii to I learnt from my MIL. When we moved from Pakistan I started to make Chapati, earlier it was crisp, burnt not puffed (still i m bad in this 😜) but I think I am a good trainer, I trained my Filipino maid there to make Chapati and I serve food and she served us hot round puffed soft Phulkay... from that time we started to have roti. I make it but still I don’t like to make roti🙄 i can cook anything but I think roti, chapati phulka... all needs practice. 😊#joy

Steps
- 1
Take a flour and add a pinch of salt
- 2
Knead it with water
- 3
Knead it with your knuckles with 5-6 turn. Roll it and spread it then again knead it with knuckles
- 4
Give slightly pressure with fist and roll it over the slab or Steel tray(parath) and give some rest. I usually put it in the fridge and then take it when I need it.
- 5
Make a ball
- 6
Dip it into dry flour and spread it with your finger and palm and place it on marble slab.
- 7
Roll you roti by rolling it front and back. Rotate the roti and again roll it. Change a sides and roll it. Once its done take it on your hand and do flip flap, all the extra dry flour will be get off.
- 8
Put the roti on hot burning Flat pan(Tawa), if you see the top part is changing its color; turn it on other side.
- 9
Remove the flat pan(tawa) slightly from the stove and put the roti on stove. And rotate it quickly to other side.
- 10
Roti starts puffing, rotate some more and make a ball like roti. Take it off from the stove and put it in the hot pot. We like Chupri roti so I drizzle few drops of oil fold it and cover the hot pot.
- 11
Serve hot with your favorite gravies, daal, curries and sabzis.
