Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupbajro (pearl millet)
  • 1/2 cupchana daal ( split
  • chick peas)
  • 1/2 cupbroken wheat
  • 1/2 cuptuver daal (pigeon peas)
  • 1/2 cupmung daal (split green beans)
  • 1/2juvar (sorghum)
  • 1 1/2 cuprice
  • 14 cupswater
  • 1 tablespoonghee
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoonturmeric

Steps

    If you do not have juvar and bajro use masoor daal and oats instead.

    In a grinder add the juvar and bajro and pulse it couple of time so its easy to cook.
    Mix all the seven ingredients and wash it thoroughly. Let it soak for 1 hour.

    In a pressure cooker bring water to boil and add salt to taste and ghee. Add in the soaked ingredients. At this stage you can add green peas, fresh pepper corns or any fresh beans. You can also add sesame seeds.

    Close the lid of pressure cooker and cook until 5 to 6 whistles. Once done add further tablespoon-of ghee if preferred and enjoy. Serve hot with sesame oil or peanut oil.

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
