Whole Orange Cake in Lidl Bread Maker

This recipe is from my friend Mariam. I liked it so much that I adapted it for the Lidl bread maker so I could make it more often. The interesting thing about this recipe is that you use the whole orange, peel and all! It turns out delicious.
Whole Orange Cake in Lidl Bread Maker
This recipe is from my friend Mariam. I liked it so much that I adapted it for the Lidl bread maker so I could make it more often. The interesting thing about this recipe is that you use the whole orange, peel and all! It turns out delicious.
Steps
- 1
Scrub the oranges thoroughly with a brush under water to clean the peel. Cut them into pieces and place them in the mixing bowl.
- 2
Add the olive oil, sugar (use less if you prefer it less sweet), and eggs. Blend everything with a hand blender until the mixture is smooth, but don’t over-blend—leave some small bits of orange.
- 3
Add the flour, baking powder (or double-acting baking powder), and a pinch of salt. I prefer double-acting baking powder because it makes the cake fluffier. I usually use one packet for each egg in the recipe.
- 4
Blend again until everything is well combined.
- 5
Pour the batter into the bread maker pan (remove the kneading paddles first). Select the "Bake" program (on my machine, this is program 15, which lasts 1 hour). Before baking, sprinkle a little sugar and some walnuts on top for decoration.
- 6
When the program finishes, let the cake cool a bit with the lid closed, as it tends to sink slightly in the center. Remove from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. Enjoy!
