Cooking Instructions

Cut the stale bread into large cubes

In a saucepan, melt 7 tablespoons of butter with the milk and cognac. Remove from heat

In a large bowl, beat the eggs until smooth, then add the sugar and mix vigorously. Finish by adding the cognac mixture. Soak the bread cubes in the mixture and let them absorb for 30 minutes, stirring regularly

Peel the apples and slice them thinly

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter. Once it's foamy, add the apple slices to the skillet. Increase the heat slightly and add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Stir regularly

Preheat the oven to 350°F

Once the apples are caramelized, remove from heat. Add them to the egg mixture and stir

Spread the mixture in a baking dish and bake for 40 minutes
