Raseele Aloo / Potato Curry

Raseele aloo is a type of potato curry which is usually served with puri for breakfast in northern parts of India. This is an onion and garlic free recipe. This delicious curry is prepared with boiled potatoes, tomatoes and different spices. This is a very simple but flavourful curry which goes really well with puri. I am not fond of potatoes and recipes using potatoes but this curry is so delicious that I can not have enough of it!!!

Raseele aloo is a type of potato curry which is usually served with puri for breakfast in northern parts of India. This is an onion and garlic free recipe. This delicious curry is prepared with boiled potatoes, tomatoes and different spices. This is a very simple but flavourful curry which goes really well with puri. I am not fond of potatoes and recipes using potatoes but this curry is so delicious that I can not have enough of it!!!

First of all boil the potatoes. When it cools down, peel it and mash it roughly. Grind tomatoes to a puree in a mixer grinder.

Heat oil in a pot and add bay leaf, dry red chilli and cloves to it. Now add cumin to it and let it get brown. Now add hing, chopped green chillies, ginger paste, turmeric and chilli powder to it and mix it well. Now add tomato puree to it and cook it on medium heat until oil separates.

Now add roasted gram flour to it and cook it for 2 minutes on medium heat. Add mashed potatoes to it along with water and give it a good stir. Now add black pepper powder, coriander powder, salt, garam masala, amchoor and black salt to it and cook it for 5 minutes on medium heat.

Add kasuri methi and cook it for another 2 minutes on medium heat. Lastly add coriander leaves and turn off the heat.

Serve raseele aloo with puri for breakfast. It can be even served as a meal.
