Mummy's Plain Rice Recipe

The first thing I learned to cook from my mother. Or maybe the second thing, if I count the pasta recipe which she taught me months ago and which I have forgotten since then.
Mummy's Plain Rice Recipe
The first thing I learned to cook from my mother. Or maybe the second thing, if I count the pasta recipe which she taught me months ago and which I have forgotten since then.
Steps
- 1
Take uncooked rice and wash it well 2-3 times.
- 2
Add water in a 'topia' and get it to boil.
- 3
Add rice to the boiling water and stir it. Keep stirring it from time to time so it doesn't stick. Flame should be kept at maximum.
- 4
Reduce flame when the rice+water mixture starts to boil and keep stirring.
- 5
Allow to cook for ~5 minutes. Don't cook all the way through though. Get it off the gas when the rice is cooked 80%-85% and is still a tiny bit hard. The remainder will get cooked via the vapours.
- 6
Rinse the excess water and you're done.
