My family enjoys this every year since I started making this recipe. After trying a lot of different recipes, this became our family favorite.

- When we're going to be eating this in the evening, I start it in the morning so the chicken has enough time to marinate. If you buy the chicken the day before, you can be more efficient.
- I think this would be really good made with chicken wings, too. Recipe by Pukuttopukumaru

Ingredients

  • 4Bone-in chicken thigh
  • Seasoning
  • 1(to taste): 1 tablespoon or more Salt
  • 1Pepper
  • 2 tbspHoney
  • Sauce
  • 50 ml☆Soy sauce
  • 30 ml☆White wine (or sake)
  • 3/4of an onion ☆Grated onion
  • 2 clove☆Grated garlic

Steps

  1. 1

    Make a cut parallel to the bone on the bottom side of the chicken legs. Pierce the skin several times with a fork.

    Season with lots of freshly ground salt and pepper.

    When the salt and pepper has penetrated the chicken, use your hands to spread honey.

    Mix all of the ☆ ingredients to make the sauce.

    In a tray or a ziploc bag, marinate the chicken in the sauce. Refrigerate for around 6 hours, flipping the chicken pieces occasionally.

    Remove the chicken from the sauce (make especially sure to remove any bits of onion, which would burn) and bake.

    After the oven is preheated, bake for about 30 minutes at 230ºC. During baking, brush the sauce on the chicken 2 or 3 times.

  8. 8

    Optional... When done baking, combine the juices from the chicken left in the baking pan with the sauce. Put into a frying pan and reduce the sauce.

  9. 9

    Transfer the chicken to a serving dish, pour on the sauce (as much as you like) and it's done.

  10. 10

    At my house, we often have this chicken with rice pilaf on Christmas day.
