Just like mom's and grandma's. 😋😋 These are the kind of stuffed cabbage rolls that adorned tables full of people at all kinds of celebrations. 🥳🥳
Whoever was near the platter or pot would grab one, and before their neighbor noticed, a second one was already in their hand.
Let's get a taste ourselves now.. 😘😘

Ingredients

  1. About 40-50 black cabbage leaves
  2. 1 poundground meat, maybe a bit more (I usually get $5 worth)
  3. 2large onions
  4. 1 cuprice
  5. 1/2 cupolive oil
  6. 1 handfulparsley
  7. 1little dill and mint
  8. Salt, pepper
  9. 1tomato
  10. 1little lemon

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the leaves well and boil them for about five minutes in salted water. It's best to do ten leaves at a time. Remove and dry them well.

  2. 2

Then cut the stems and lay them at the bottom of your pot.

  3. 3

Wash the rice well and squeeze a lemon over it to prevent it from becoming mushy during boiling.
Place the ground meat in a bowl and grate in two onions, parsley, dill, and mint, and season.
Add two to three tablespoons of the olive oil and mix well.

  4. 4

Take a leaf in your hands with the shiny side down. Place the ground meat on top and roll it up.

  5. 5

This is the result we want. Not too tight, but not too loose either. Place them in the pot in a way that they won't open.

  6. 6

Grate a fresh tomato on top and add salt. Finally, add the olive oil and pour in lukewarm water just to cover them. Place a plate on top to hold them down and simmer on low heat for about 40 minutes. You can check if they're done.
Be careful! The water will always seem enough, and they might stick.
Remember, if you turn off the heat, they will absorb it.

  7. 7

Enjoy with full tables, I wish! 🥳😛😛
