A special dal made with mostly whole urad.
I prepare this with a mix of urad dal, moong dal and toovar dal.

I prepare this with a mix of urad dal, moong dal and toovar dal.
Steps

Wash all the dals together and boil. Pressure cook for 4 whistles.
Once done let it down. - 2
In a kadhai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, hing, tomatoes, turmeric and salt.
Add the boiled dal and mix together. Add water if required and let boil for 2-3 minutes. - 3
For the extra tadka, heat oil in a tadka pan.
Add the cumin seeds, Curry leaves, red chilli powder and add this tadka to the prepared dal.
Simmer for 2 minutes and serve hot with some steamed rice or rotis.
