Apple Cake With A Subtle Tea Flavor

I love black tea and apple, so I created a cake which combines both, and doesn't use a lot of fat.
Please adjust the baking time depending on your oven. I used half of a large apple. Please also adjust amount of apple added depending on how big your apples are. Recipe by Orenjiringu

Steps
- 1
Have all the ingredients ready to go.
- 2
Crack the egg into a bowl and add sugar. Whisk well.
- 3
Add vegetable oil to the step 2 mixture. Whisk some more.
- 4
Add the milk also, and mix again.
- 5
Add the sifted cake flour and baking powder into the bowl.
- 6
Change to a rubber spatula, and fold the flour in.
- 7
Remove the black tea leaves from the tea bag and add them into the batter. Mix to combine.
- 8
Cut up 2/3rds of the apple into wedges and slice thinly. Add this to the batter. Reserve the other 1/3 of the apple to use as topping.
- 9
Pour the batter into a cake pan lined with kitchen parchment paper. Scatter the reserved apples on top, and press them into the batter lightly with your fingers.
- 10
Bake in a preheated 170 ℃ oven for about 40 minutes. If a bamboo skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean, the cake is done.
