Ingredients

  • Sweet & Sour Sauce
  • 150 mllight syrup (drained from canned Pineapples Pieces)
  • 50 mlHoney
  • 130 mlwhite Vinegar
  • 30 mlSoy Sauce
  • 65 mlTomato Paste
  • 25 mlCornstarch
  • 75 mlWater
  • Pork
  • 1 kgPork neck, cut into 2,5 cm cubes
  • 7,5 mlSalt
  • 3,5 mlblack Pepper
  • 275 mlpure Rye Flour
  • 125 mlCornstarch
  • 3large Eggs
  • 750 mlsunflower Oil
  • 25 mlcoconut Oil
  • 5 clovesGarlic, chopped
  • 3medium Onions, coarsely chopped
    How to dice an onion with no tears
  • 1Red Bell Pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 head Cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 1 can (440 g)Pineapple pieces, drained, syrup retained
  • 3,5 mlSesame Seeds

Steps

  1. 1

    Combine light Syrup, Honey, Vinegar, Soy Sauce and Tomato Paste in a medium bowl and set aside. Combine 25 ml Cornstarch and 75 ml Water in a separate small bowl

    Season Pork with half the Salt and black Pepper

    Mix Flour and 125 ml Cornstarch in a shallow dish and whisk Eggs in a separate shallow dish

    Heat sunflower Oil in frying pan over medium high heat.

    Batter each piece of Pork by coating it in the Flour mixture, then dip in the whisked Eggs, then a final coat in the Flour mixture.

    Once Oil reach 175°C, in 3 to 4 batches, fry the battered Pork until golden brown and the Pork is cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Make sure Oil is not too cold before adding each batch. Allow cooked Pork to drain on paper towels.

    Heat wok over medium high heat and add coconut Oil, when Oil is 🔥 add Garlic and Onions, stir fry for half a minute. Add Bell Pepper and Cabbage, stir fry for about 2 minutes then add the Pineapple pieces. Stir fry for about a minute.

    Add in the Pork and the medium bowl of Sweet and Sour sauce, stir to combine and allow the sauce to start boiling. Stir the small bowl of Cornstarch & Water before adding it to the wok. Stir until the sauce thicken, about a minute. Season with remaining Salt and black Pepper, if desired

    Serve with rice and garnish with Sesame Seeds

Tips

How to dice an onion with no tears

Using a chef's knife, slice off top-end. Don't slice off the roots. Peel the onions.
