Daliya is largely used since ancient times and still most of the most popular breakfast in India. The vegetable Daliya is loaded with lots of fibers and nutrients. Daliya being a whole grain( broken wheat) has a lots of fibers in it, which is good for digestion and maintaining proper weight . Also it has high content of magnesium which regulates your heart beat. It has beneficial amount of iron too. So all together a nutritious breakfast to start your day with.

Ingredients

20 minutes
2 people
  • 1 cupdaliya (broken wheat)
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 tspasafoetida (hing)
  • 1 tspmethi seeds(optional)
  • 1 cuponion chopped
  • 1/2 cupchopped carrots
  • 1/2 cupchopped capsicum
  • 1/2 cupchopped french beans
  • 1/2 cupchopped cabbage
  • 1green chili chopped
  • 1/2 cupchopped tomatoes
  • 1 tspturmeric powder
  • As per taste Salt
  • 2 cupswater
  • 1 tspoil

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Dry roast daliya on a medium heat. When the daliya is roasted it pops and turns slightly white. Keep aside.

  2. 2

    In a pressure cooker add oil and heat. Add cumin seeds and Fenugreek seeds. Let them crackle.Add asafoetida and green chill. Saute for a minute and add onions. Cook them till they turn translucent.

  3. 3

    Add all the vegetables and cook well for two more minutes. Add turmeric powder. Saute for a minute.

  4. 4

    Add roasted daliya and add salt. Roast for one or two minutes and add water.

  5. 5

    Cover the pressure cooker with a lid and put a whistle. Cook on medium flame and till 2 whistles. Simmer the gas for another 2 minutes and then switch off.

  6. 6

    Open the lid only when the pressure in the pressure cooker is released. Serve immediately with curd or chutney.
