Wash the saag very nicely, then chop it into small pieces.
Heat oil. Splutter cumin seeds, add garlic and dry red chillies. - 2
Next add split moong dal. Mix. Saute for sometime. Next add the chopped saag.

Mix all well. Keep the flame slow. Cook the saag without cover. It helps retain the green colour. As the quantity of saag gets reduced, then only add salt and turmeric powder. Mix well. Be careful while adding salt specially.
Add little water as an when needed, so that the dal get cooked. - 4
When both saag and dal are cooked. Switch the flame off and serve. If you have badi (urad dal dumplings) fry them crush and put it on the top as garnish and serve.
Goes well with hot rice...
