Sieve the self rising flour in a bowl, set aside.

Make a well in the centre of flour and add buttermilk and combine to make a thick sticky dough. Let it sit for 10 minutes.

Add cooking oil to wide pan and set on medium heat.

Add dough to a piping bag with a round tip nozzle.

When the oil is hot enough (not smoking hot) add the batter in tiny bite sizes.

The dough will sink to the bottom and float as soon as the baking powder begins reacting. Turn around the dumplings in the oil gently, for even cooking.

Cook till golden, remove with slotted spoon, set aside to drain extra oil.

Add the dumplings to a bowl with icing sugar and toss to create light sugar coating. You can also glaze with icing if desired. Serve and enjoy.
