(CHANA/DALIYA CHIKKI)
Traditional Indian winter sweet 'Chikki' is somehow healthy as it is prepared from jaggery and nuts and seeds. Chikkis are specially prepared during the festival Uttarayan/ Makarsankranti / Kite flying frstival in Gujarat. Daliya Chikki is not popular like peanut chikki and sesame chikki but it tastes good and of course goodness of daliya and jaggery makes it more healthy.

Chikkis are specially prepared during the festival Uttarayan/ Makarsankranti / Kite flying frstival in Gujarat. Daliya Chikki is not popular like peanut chikki and sesame chikki but it tastes good and of course goodness of daliya and jaggery makes it more healthy.

Dry roast daliya for few minutes on low flame.

In a thick bottom pan, add jaggery and let it melt on a low flame. Keep stirring.

Once it starts bubbling, take one drop of melted jaggery and drop in water and check if it becomes hard and crispy. If it does our jaggery is ready.

At this time, if you wish, add baking soda, mix and add daliya and mix well and turn off the heat.

Now transfer this mixture on a greased surface and flatten it with spatula or bowl and then roll it with greased rolling pin.

Cut it in desired shape and then let it cool completely. Then store it in an air tight jar.
Note:By adding cooking soda, chikki will be more crisp.
