Maha Shivratri Special Raita

Maha Shivratri is celebrated on a large scale in India to honour Lord Shiva. Some devotees go to the sacred river Ganga to collect the holy water and a lot of people fast during this time. The main idea of the fast is to stay away from any form of grains. This not only cleanses the system but also increases the body’s immunity. Shivratri Raita is one such condiment that is prepared during the fast period. It contains carbs, proteins and carbohydrates to keep the stomach full and the yoghurt or curd that is used to prepare it serves as the main ingredient in the dish.

Start with boiling the potato and the sweet potato properly and cutting them into small pieces. Now beat the curd and let it rest for 2 minutes.

Chop all the vegetables in small chunks and add them to the curd. Add salt, red chilli powder and cumin powder and mix. You can garnish it with coriander leaves and roasted cumin seeds and mustard seeds that are tampered in oil. Your raita is ready to serve.
