Purple Yam Chips

Purple yam is a root vegetable which tastes absolutely delicious. It can be used to prepare Gujarati undhiyu, kand puri etc. Today I have prepared chips using purple yam. These chips are grilled not fried. This chips taste really good. Here I have served it with tomato ketchup and minty yoghurt dip. You can even serve it with plain yoghurt if it is used for fasting. This is a healthy recipe which can be prepared quickly and which is really delicious.

First of all peel purple yam and wash it properly. Cut it into finger like chips. Apply little oil on hands before cutting the yam so that it does not feel itchy.

Take a bowl and add oil, Chilli powder, cumin powder, chat masala, black pepper powder and salt. Mix everything well. Now add prepared chips to it and mix it well so that each chip is coated properly with the spices. Let it stand for 10 minutes.

Now arrange chips in a greased baking tray. Grill it at 200 degree in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. Now take the tray out and turn the chips over. Put it back in the oven to grill it for 10 more minutes.

Purple yam chips can be served with tomato ketchup and minty yoghurt dip. If you are using it for fasting then it can be even served with plain yoghurt. This dish can be served as a starter or even as a side dish.
