Ingredients

15 minutes
3-4 persons
  • For pessurattu
  • 3/4th cup split moong dal (soaked)
  • 1/4th cup whole green moong dal (soaked)
  • 1/2 inchginger
  • 4-5 clovesgarlic
  • 4dry red chillies
  • 1fresh green chilli
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1/2 tspcoriander powder
  • As per taste Salt
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric powder
  • As Required Hing (a pinch)
  • as neededWater
  • As Required Served here with chutney

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the dals in water in the afternoon. By night it's ready to grind. Wash and strain them.

  2. 2

    In a grinder jar, take soaked dals. Add ginger, garlic, fresh green chilli, dry red chillies, cumin seeds, coriander powder, hing, salt and turmeric powder.
    Add little water and grind coarsely. Next add water gradually and grind into a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Transfer the batter into a vessel. Cover and keep it aside at least for 30 minutes to an hour.
    Then add water to adjust consistency. The batter must not be very runny.
    Now heat a conditioned tawa.

    Pour ladle full of batter and make circular pessurattu.
    As the pessurattu dries brush oil.

    Plain Urad dal dosa with peanut coconut chutney
  5. 5

    It gets nicely roasted and sides leaves the tawa. Remove the pessurattu using a sharp end spatula.
    Fold it and serve!!

    Want your dosas/ pessurattu/ chilla to absorb less oil..try this

    You can serve it with upma..
    Pessurattu - upma is an ideal combination.
    Otherwise serve it with any chutney.
    Do not forget to give raw onion with pessurattu, it tastes superb together..
    So do try this recipe and enjoy this healthy and tasty south Indian speciality...

Tips

Want your dosas/ pessurattu/ chilla to absorb less oil..try this

After putting the dosa/pessurattu or chilla, do not brush oil immediately.❌
