  • 1 tspCardamom powder
  • 1/2 cupSugar

    Prepare checklist. Collect the necessary materials. Place near the cooking area.

    Make cardamom powder. Dissolve saffron in 2 tablespoons of hot water in a bowl, to get a good color. Soak almonds in a bowl with 2c hot water for 30 minutes, drain and remove the skin. Make almond paste in a blender by adding a cup of milk to almonds

    Peel the figs, make a smooth paste in a blender without adding water. Add ghee to a sauce pan over medium heat. Add cloves, fig pulp and stir; Keep stirring till the raw smell goes away. Almond paste and fig pulp should be equal. Add almond paste and stir.

    After 5-6 minutes add sugar. Taste Add sugar if desired and stir. Add salt, cardamom powder, saffron, nutmeg powder and stir. Reduce heat and keep stirring.
    The ghee will separate. Halwa has thickened to right consistency Turn off the stove. Let it stay on top of the stove for 10 minutes.

    You can transfer the halwa to a buttered plate, let it cool a little and slice or transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with slivered or whole almonds. Taste and share with your close relatives and celebrate the festival..
