Ingredients

  1. To grind
  2. 10 ozspinach
  3. 2chillies
  4. 1 tbspginger garlic paste
  5. 2 tspdhania
  6. 1.5 tspgaram masala
  7. For cooking
  8. 2 cupsbasmati rice
  9. 0.5cinnamon stick or 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  10. 4elaichi
  11. 4-5cloves
  12. 0.75 tspturmeric
  13. 1.25 tspchili powder
  14. 2-3 tbspGhee
  15. Veggies
  16. 1large onion
  17. Green peas/corn (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Grind 10 oz spinach, chillies, ginger garlic paste, dhania, garam masala and salt in mixer till it's fine paste. Add water as needed to make paste.

  2. 2

    In a large pot or in a pressure cooker, take oil, cinnamon, elaichi, cloves and onion.

    Once onions are fried, add spinach paste (and green peas or corn optional). Add turmeric and chili powder and let it cook.

    Add rice, mix well. Add 2 tbsp ghee and 1.5 times water. (3 cups water for 2 cups rice). Then pressure cook or close lid of pot and cook.

  5. 5

    Serve with raita or curds.
