Dalma

Dalma is a traditional recipe from Odisha. It's made with yellow moong dal and available vegetables. Coconut in grated or powder form is used. Chopped ginger and roasted cumin powder enhance the taste to a higher level. It can be taken as a wholesome recipe that itself only can be consumed with rice. In special occasions like festivals, marriage to Dalma is preferred. This is a wholesome and nutritious recipe.

Steps

Take dal and vegetables turmeric powder and salt, in a pressure cooker. Boil for one whistle. Allow releasing the pressure naturally.

Heat oil in a kadhi. Add panch phutan and allow to splutter. Now add chopped onion and green chili as well as red chili and saute.

When the onion is fried add chopped tomatoes and coconut powder. Cook till they come together.

Add the boiled dal and vegetables. Mix well and allow to boil.

Mix roasted cumin powder, ginger Juliennes, and ghee. Now the delicious Dalma is ready to Serve.
