Also known as Tarator or Cacik, is a Dip or Sauce mostly found in the cuisines of Southeast Europe and the Middle East. It's basically a salted strained Yogurt, shredded Cucumbers, Dill, Garlic and Olive Oil along with Lemon juice and sometimes other Herbs like Thyme and Parsley. An amazing Dip that's absolutely delicious and healthy. It's a mild and creamy Sauce bursting with subtle flavours that adds on from the ingredients used in making it.
A very refreshing one that can be whipped up and enjoyed if you have some homemade strained Yogurt or a store bought Greek Yogurt with you. It's absolutely easy to make and is a perfect Dip to many a mouthwatering Snacks like, Crackers, Pita, Chips and Nachos, Kebabs, fresh Vegetable sticks etc.
A perfect choice for enjoying something so very flavourful and healthy on just about any day or during the weekends for a worthwhile Brunch or even a Barbeque party or Close knit family gatherings as well or for that few cherished moments with a bunch of special friends in your life..
The excuses are many. For my family, it's an anytime easy peasy dish that i can whip up literally. That's the beauty of it. You cannot stay away from it if you had tasted it once. Relish it all on it's own too if you like it that way. You will love that spoonfuls of it in your mouth even without any accompaniments as well. Simple yet filling and pure homemade comfort dish for me and my folks.
