A yummy Breakfast recipe from the City of Nawabs- Hyderabad Deccan. An absolute relish, it is best served with Rotis or Phulkas. A most popular Breakfast on a weekend morning that is enjoyed thoroughly by every member of the family. Made with simple ingredients, it is healthy too. Urad daal or Black Gram is one of the richest sources of Protien and Vitamin B. It is also beneficial to women in particular as it contains Folic acid, Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium and is hence considered a healthy pulse. A lovely way to start your beautiful day, it is made with the simplest of the ingredients available in every kitchen and it's pantry. The aroma of this Daal will tempt you to try it and kids will definitely love it. It is a healthy Breakfast option for the tiny tots as well. Adults will also enjoy it's flavour and texture. In this version, I have made it more healthier by adding Fenugreek Greens or Methi. It not only changed it's look but also turned out to be delicious. It was an instant hit with my family.
This can be packed in Lunchboxes too. Try this one for your families. Iam sure they would love to have it.

Steps
- 1
Wash and rinse this Daal for about 4-5 times. It is necessary to do so to remove the white froth that bubbles up while cooking. After washing and rinsing properly, soak daal in clean drinking water so as to immerse it properly for 2 hours.
- 2
Now pressure cook it along with a little Salt just for 1 whistle. That's it. Otherwise it tends to become too mushy and soft. Set it aside to cool.
- 3
In a pan, heat Oil and add Ginger garlic paste. Fry for a minute and then add the finely chopped Green Chillies and Coriander Leaves along with chopped Fenugreek Greens or Methi. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Now add this tadka to the cooked or boiled Daal. Adjust Salt as desired. Serve this hot alongside any Indian Bread of your choice.
- 4
Meanwhile you can deep fry thinly sliced Onions as we do for the Biryani. This is done according to one's own liking. Fry more or less of the Onions as liked by your families. Serve this for Breakfast with Rotis topped with deep fried Onions. Enjoy ! Yum!
