Steps
- 1
Firstly, assemble all the required ingredients.
- 2
Heat mustard oil in a kadai or pan. Add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter.
- 3
Add in the finely chopped garlic and green chillies and saute till the raw smell leaves.
- 4
Then add the sliced onions and saute only for 30-40 seconds.
- 5
Add the fresh green peas and salt and mix it well. You can boil the green peas in advance and keep aside. I prefer to cook them raw.
- 6
Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- 7
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and roasted cumin powder and mix it well. Again cover and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring at intervals. Cook till the green peas are tender. I prefer it a bit crunchy.
- 8
Switch off the flame. Add the garam masala powder and mix it well. Adjust the seasoning, if needed.
- 9
Garnish with the chopped coriander leaves and mix it well.
- 10
Tasty Hare Matar Ki Ghugni is ready. Serve it hot garnished with sev or serve as a side dish with rice and dal or with roti, poori or paratha.
