The festival of Navratri comes to an end with Maha Ashtami and Navmi puja. On the eighth day of Navratri, the eighth manifestation of Maa Durga called Mahaguri is worshipped. On the ninth day Maha Navami is celebrated and Maa Siddhidatri is worshipped. On both the tithis, people offer prayer to the two avatars of Goddess Durga and then offer prayer and treats to young girls or kanjak.

Ingredients

15 minutes
4 people
  • For chaana :
  • 1 cup chana
  • 2 cupwater
  • 1 tspred Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tspoil
  • For Halwa :
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cupghee
  • 1/2 cupsugar
  • 1 cupdry fruits

Steps

15 minutes

    Take a bowl put Kala chana and soak overnight.

  2. 2

    The next day wash with water 2-3 times.

  3. 3

    Take cooker put Kala chana and water.

  4. 4

    Cook for 4-5 whistles.

  5. 5

    Then take Kadai put oil, boiled Kala chana, red Chilli powder, salt and mix well.

  6. 6

    Preheat a pan butter in it. Melt it and add a ½ cup of semolina to it.  Roast while continuously stirring it on the medium flame and roast until its colour changes to brown.

  7. 7

    Add the chopped cashews, almonds and roast them along with semolina. Add some raisins and add 1.5 cups of water. Add a ½ cup of sugar to it and cook it on the low flame until semolina expands

  8. 8

    The semolina has expanded after 5 minutes. Stir it again and cook until it reaches to its thicker consistency. The Halwa has become thick and it has cooked. Add some cardamom powder to it and mix it.  Pour it in a separate bowl and serve.
