Here is one special recipe of Talbeenah (barley porridge) which has been recommended by our beloved Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) “Talbeenah soothes the heart of the sick person, and it takes away some of the grief.” A very healthy recipe which nourishes, and provides strength and has numerous health benefit specially for heart.

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1/2 cupBarley (jau) powdered
  2. 1/2 litreMilk
  3. 5Dates
  4. 2 tbspAlmonds crushed
  5. Pistachio to garnish
  6. 1/2 tspCardamom powder

Cooking Instructions

    Boil the milk

  2. 2

    On low flame, add barley powder gradually, stir it to avoid lumps.

  3. 3

    Remove the seeds from dates, chop them and add it to milk mixture.

  4. 4

    Add cardamom powder, crushed almonds and mix.

  5. 5

    Cover the lid and let it cook on low flame for 20 to 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Talbeena has to be cooked on low flame to retain all it's nutrients

  7. 7

    Talbeena is ready to be served
