Ingredients

  1. 500 gramsRidge Gourd
  2. 2 tbspChana Dal (pre soaked)
  3. 1/2 tspNigella seeds
  4. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  5. 2 tbspMustard paste
  6. Salt as required
  7. 4green Chilli
  8. 2 tbspMustard Oil
  9. Steamed Fritters
  10. 1/2 cupyellow split Dal (pre soaked)
  11. 1.5 tspsalt
  12. 3green Chilli
  13. 1/2“ Ginger
  14. 2-3 tbspWater

    Assemble ingredients

    Make a medium slurry of mustard powder and add little salt + 1/2 tsp Mustard Oil.

    Grind soaked Yellow split Peas Dal by adding green chilli + ginger and keep aside. Use very less water while grinding. Add salt and whisk well. Batter for fritters is ready.

    In moderately heated pan / kadhai add oil, allow to heat then add Nigella seeds and allow to sizzle. Add soaked Chana Dal and sauté for few seconds.
    Add chopped Ridge Gourd + green chilli and sauté.

    Sauté for 3-4 minutes by covering and ridge gourd starts releasing water.

    Now pinch small quantity from batter and drop on surface. (refer pic 👇)

    Lower flame, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes, flip and steam the other side too.
    Now add the mustard paste + water and mix gently. Add salt as required.

    Cook for 5-6 minutes under medium heat, keep in stand by mode for around 2 minutes and dish is done.

    Serve with hot steamed rice to enjoy this delicacy.
