Steps
- 1
First and foremost step is to preheat the oven on 160° C.
- 2
Now prepare the caramel by adding sugar and water to a pan. Cook over medium high heat until it is golden brown in colour. Keep stirring it at regular intervals and keep an eye on it. Otherwise it might get burnt.
- 3
Add it to a glass dish or a baking pan whichever is convenient. Set aside.
- 4
In the meantime, make the custard. In a small saucepan, combine milk and sugar. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Do not cook.
- 5
In a heat proof bowl, whisk eggs and vanilla essence. Gradually pour hot milk by continuously whisking it all the while.
- 6
Now add it to the dish with the caramel. Place it in a large tray (waterbath) with boiling water touching halfway upto the edges of the dish. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven. Let it cool to the room temperature.
- 7
Refrigerate until chilled for about 2 hours or so. Invert it in a serving dish. Slice and serve. Enjoy!
