Green Asparagus with Sesame Sauce

Peel the tough ends of the asparagus stalks. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and cook the asparagus for about 2 minutes. (You can use a skillet to save time.)

Once cooked, quickly rinse the asparagus under cold water to stop the cooking and keep the color bright. Slice diagonally into thin pieces.

Grind the black sesame seeds, then add the soy sauce, sugar, and mirin to make the sesame sauce. You can use pre-ground sesame seeds if you prefer.

Just before serving, toss the asparagus with the sesame sauce.
