Crunchy Easy Hash Browns

I make this when I become tired of French fries.
It's a new and tasty discovery when it's shaped differently.

This recipe uses the starch from the potatoes. It won't stick if soaked in water.
After some time, it'll become slightly pink (because of the remaining starch). The pink disappears when fried.
P.S.: Use more oil for a crunchy finish. Add some as you fry. For 10 servings (5 cm [2.0 in] in diameter). Recipe by Shinamoro-rus

Ingredients

  • 2Potatoes
  • 1Salt
  • 2 tbspVegetable oil
  • 1 tbspButter (or margarine)
  • 1Ketchup

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel the potatoes. Slice finely using a potato slicer (about 2 mm). Do NOT soak in water.

    Heat some vegetable oil and butter in a frying pan and add the potato slices in individual little bunches.

    Fry both sides over low heat (about 5 minutes for each surface.) It's perfect when the surfaces are golden brown and crunchy!

    Transfer onto a paper towel and sprinkle on some salt. It's done!

    Serve with ketchup if you like. It won't be as crunchy once cooled, it'll still be delicious.
