The origin of this recipe
I thought making edamame in a waterless pot would be delicious, so I tried it! Even with regular edamame, you can use the moisture from the ingredients to cook it, making it very tasty!
Steps
- 1
Wash the edamame and drain in a colander. Preheat an empty waterless pot over medium heat.
- 2
Drop a small amount of water into the pot. If the water forms beads and dances on the bottom, preheating is complete.
- 3
Add the washed edamame to the preheated pot. It will sizzle, but that's okay! Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to very low. Cook for 3 minutes.
- 4
During cooking, shake the pot twice with the lid on to rotate the edamame. If you don't shake it, the pods may scorch slightly.
- 5
Steam may escape, so hold the handle firmly while shaking! Be careful not to burn yourself!
- 6
After 3 minutes of cooking, turn off the heat and remove the lid to check the firmness. If it's good, replace the lid and let it sit for 2 minutes.
- 7
After 3 minutes of cooking, turn off the heat and check the firmness. If it's good, cover and let it sit for 2 minutes.
- 8
If you prefer softer edamame, add 1 more minute of heat.
- 9
For one bag of edamame, sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of salt. To help the salt adhere, cover again and let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then drain in a colander to finish!
