Ingredients

Serves 2-4 servings
  • 2chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2medium onion
  • 1 tablespoongarlic
  • 3 tablespoonsketchup
  • 1 tablespoonsauce
  • 2 tablespoonssugar
  • 3 tablespoonsmirin
  • 3 tablespoonssoy sauce
  • as neededAll-purpose flour,

Steps

  1. 1

    Grate the onion and garlic. Cut the thick parts of the meat and butterfly them.

  2. 2

    Put all the ingredients marked with an asterisk (*) in a bag, add the meat from step 1, and marinate for about 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Remove the meat from the bag, pat it dry with paper towels, and cut it into bite-sized pieces.

  4. 4

    Coat the meat with flour, shake off the excess, and either deep-fry or pan-fry in a generous amount of oil until both sides are thoroughly cooked.

  5. 5

    While frying, simmer the sauce from the bag in a separate pot until it thickens.

  6. 6

    Drain the oil from the meat and add it to the thickened sauce, coating it well. And it's done!
