Love for Game Meat: Preparing Venison (Removing Odor)

★*RikO*★

I love game meat, but sometimes the smell can be a bit off-putting. This method effectively removes the gamey odor.

Origin of this recipe
I occasionally receive venison, so I use my own method, similar to preparing liver, to remove the odor.

  2. 2

You'll notice the blood starting to seep out. You can do this once, but if you want to thoroughly remove the odor, rinse it off and repeat step 1.

  3. 3

Add water and gently wash the meat, changing the water several times until the water runs clear and the blood color is no longer prominent.

  4. 4

Once drained, you're done. As shown in the photo, the redness of the blood should fade, and the color should lighten slightly. Use for frying or stews.
