Making dough from scratch can be tough... Why not try using puff pastry sheets? These bars are mildly sweet with a hint of honey flavor.
The story behind this recipe: I love Florentine bars and wanted to make them as a gift for a friend. Making the dough from scratch takes time and can be a bit challenging, so I used easy-to-make puff pastry sheets.

Preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut the puff pastry sheets to fit the size of the baking sheet, place them together, and poke holes with a fork.

  7. 7

Once the butter is melted, add the granulated sugar, milk, and honey. Simmer over medium heat until it becomes bubbly and thick. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

  8. 8

If using a stovetop, the bottom and sides of the pan can burn easily, so stir from the edges and bottom to prevent this.

  9. 9

Remove from heat and add the sliced almonds. Return to heat and simmer until it thickens.

  14. 14

I planned to use heavy cream, but since I didn't have any at home, I used milk instead.

  15. 15

You can increase the filling ingredients and add nuts, dried fruits, or colorful beans with the sliced almonds for extra flavor.

  16. 16

Cut into long strips and dip both ends in melted chocolate for a delicious touch!
