When you have leftover seasoned rice, it can get a bit boring to eat it as-is—but with this recipe, you'll finish it up in no time! Since we're using already seasoned rice, all you need to do is grill it.

If the leftover seasoned rice is cold, warm it in the microwave until it's about 140°F (60°C). If it's still warm, use it as is to shape the rice balls.

Let the shaped rice balls cool completely. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar together well.

Once the rice balls have cooled, arrange them in a skillet and cook over medium-low heat. Grill each side without moving them until the surface is slightly crispy and browned.

When all sides are grilled, brush the sauce from step 2 onto each side using a spatula or, if you don't have one, drizzle it on with a spoon as you grill.

Grill with the sauced side down. If the rice balls weren't grilled enough in step 3, they may fall apart at this stage!

Since the rice is already seasoned, once the surface is nicely browned and fragrant, they're ready to serve!
