Thank you for over 500 recipe tries! This is our family's go-to Saturday snack that you can make quickly.
Recipe background:
Ever since I was little, my mom always made these donuts. Now, on Saturdays, I make them for my own kids as our classic treat. They're quick and easy, so give them a try!
Steps
- 1
Add all the ingredients marked with ★ (egg, sugar, oil, and optional milk) to a bowl. For easy mixing, add the sugar first. (Add milk if you want a softer texture for kids; skip it for a firmer donut.)
- 2
Mix well. Heat oil to about 320–340°F (160–170°C).
- 3
Zero out your scale, then add all the ☆ ingredients (flour and baking powder).
- 4
Mix thoroughly until combined.
- 5
Pour a little oil onto a small plate and rub it on your hands. Shape the dough into balls about 1 1/4–1 1/2 inches (3–4 cm) wide, then fry them.
- 6
When the surface cracks and turns a nice golden brown, they're done.
- 7
They'll get crispier as they cool. Great for sharing with friends or kids. I usually double the recipe!
