Korean Beef Rice Bowl

Pretty easy, no real "hard to find" ingredients for most people.
This is not a real strong flavored Korean style dish. Most people should like this one. I have a tendency toward the stronger and hotter styles, but not my wife. This is a decent way to allow many to enjoy this type of flavor profile, and by adding some hot sauce, each individual can tailor it to their own heat level.

  16. something to serve it on, rice, noodles, salad or lettuce wrap

Cooking Instructions

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Dice garlic

  2. 2

Add oil from main to a wok/stir-fry/skillet, heat on medium.

  3. 3

    Add garlic to hot oil.

  4. 4

Stir for 15 seconds, add ground beef, stir.

  5. 5

While the ground beef is cooking, mix all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

  6. 6

Grate or small dice the carrots and onion.

  7. 7

I prefer to use one of these choppers. It ends up the perfect size.

  8. 8

When the meat is about half cooked, add the carrots and onions, stir.

  9. 9

When the meat and veggies are cooked, cut the green onions into 1/2 inch pieces

  10. 10

Add the green onions and sauce to the meat.

  11. 11

Stir and let cook for 3 minutes until it is to your liking. Check the sauce level (how liquid) for how you are serving it.

  12. 12

Served over rice, typically, but you don't have to limit yourself. Noodles work well also, as does salad, lettuce wraps, etc.

My wife is disabled, she has M.S. And she finds it hard to cook from her wheelchair. I like a variety of foods, but hate tomatoes, so you don't see too many of my recipes with tomatoes on them. Also both of us have type II diabetes, so high carb and sweet is usually not on the menu either. We have one married daughter, and one that now lives in the Seattle area. We live in Texas, USA with our two dogs.Sorry I have not posted in awhile. Been taking chemo and radiation. and it has taken some out of me. Doctor says it seems to be working, so there is that.
